Ever wanted a Hall Pass? Read about mine on Kindle

"Every Mother’s Day I secretly wish for the same gift.  For my husband and children to leave.  Not forever, but just for a whole day, or maybe a weekend.  I just want to be alone in my house, with nobody to talk to, and nobody who needs me.  My husband suggested I spend the day at the spa, or to go shopping, but I’d so much rather be left to my own devices at home.

This year; however, I wished for a different gift.  I wanted a Hall Pass.  I knew my husband wasn’t jealous of the thought of me sleeping with another man.  We had had several situations where another guy joined us in bed, but we had never had sex with other people without the other one present.  I realized this was a big gift to be asking for, but I didn’t want to be left with the silent unfulfilled desire to burn and fester in my mind instead of simply asking for permission."

Moms Gone Wild!-volume 2 of the Dirty Secrets of Suburbia series

You've seen them, moms who cut loose when they're out without a husband or kids.  Groups of them sometimes, out celebrating a birthday, divorce, or just to blow some steam.  Your first thought is a judgement.

"How embarassing!"
"Wow, she's too old to be acting like that."
"Isn't she worried she might know someone here?"

But secretly you wish you had the nerve to be drunk and obnoxious and not care what anyone else thought for just a moment of your life.  A life that now has become all about your kids and husband.  A life full of obligations and commitments.  A life that leaves you wondering.... what happened to me?

The American Family-part 1 of the Dirty Secrets of Suburbia series

We are your friends and neighbors.  We shop at your stores, go to your parties, and carpool with you.  Our kids play sports and have playdates together.  On the outside we're just like any other suburban couple, but behind closed doors, we do things that would make most of you cringe, envy, or divorce.
